Ultra-Light Premium Prime Fiberboard Mouldings

Ultra-Light's Premium Prime process provides a better surface for applying finish coats, resulting in a high quality finished product. Solvent and water-based paint systems are compatible with extrusion priming and offer excellent adhesion properties. The extrusion technology is an industrial version of the substrate preparation process transfers to the primed millwork market, characteristics of the high quality finish demanded in the picture frame industry.

Ultra-Light's Premium Prime is a high solid content, water-based primer that has the consistency of putty or wood filler when applied. Latex paints will "liquefy" the top surface of the primer and allow the topcoat to create a chemical bond with the primer.

The Extrusion Process Extrusion technology offers a significant quality increase from traditional paint-based priming systems. This process provides a better surface for applying finish coats, resulting in a higher quality finished product. Solvent and water-based paint systems are compatible with extrusion priming and offer excellent adhesion properties. Machining and sanding are performed easily on the extruded primer. This extrusion process transfers to the primed millwork market the characteristics of the high quality pre-finish demanded in the picture frame industry.

  • 33% lighter in weight as compared to MDF mouldings, allowing for easier handling
  • State-of-the-art extruded priming process require less prep-work and sanding, resulting in a high quality finished product
  • Mouldings are dimensionally stable, which resist cupping, twisting, or chipping as found with many other light fiberboard mouldings
  • Wide selection of architectural profiles to choose from
  • Nails without volcanos or raised dimples
